The handheld is scan-first — almost every job begins with a scan. A single GS1 barcode does the heavy lifting: one pull of the trigger fills in the product, lot, expiry, serial and quantity all at once, so you rarely have to type anything.

How to scan

Cómo escanear

Pull the trigger over the barcode. Point the device at the barcode and pull the hardware scan trigger — or tap the big yellow scan button on screen if you'd rather use the camera.
Let the app decode it. The app reads the code instantly. A GS1 barcode fills the SKU, lot, expiry, serial and quantity together — one scan, a whole line.
Use the result. Carry on with whatever you were doing — receive the item, look it up, count it or move it. The scan just dropped you on the right screen with the details filled in.

Good practice: point and pull the trigger — let the scanner do the reading. Reach for manual entry only when a label is genuinely damaged or missing, since typed codes are flagged for audit and slow you down.Buena práctica: apunta y pulsa el gatillo — deja que el escáner haga la lectura. Qué te aporta el GS1

An ordinary barcode is just a product number. A GS1 barcode is richer — it carries several pieces of data in one code. When you scan one, the app unpacks the SKU, the lot number, the expiry date, the serial number and the quantity in a single read. That's why a receive or a count often needs nothing more than the scan and a confirm.

Un código de barras corriente es solo un número de producto. Un código GS1 es más rico — lleva varios datos en un solo código. Al escanear uno, la app extrae el SKU, el número de lote, la fecha de caducidad, el número de serie y la cantidad en una sola lectura. Sometimes a label is missing, smudged or just won't read. Tap Manual entry and type the code by hand instead. The item is found the same way — but the entry is flagged so a supervisor can see it was typed rather than scanned.

Manual entries are flagged for audit. Typing a code instead of scanning is fine when a label is unreadable, but each one is recorded so it can be reviewed — only use it when you really can't scan.Las entradas manuales se marcan para auditoría. If the app reads a code but doesn't recognise it — or the label is torn or damaged — you'll see a scan error. Check you've scanned the right label, clean or flatten it, and try again. If it still won't read, fall back to manual entry.

Si la app lee un código pero no lo reconoce — o la etiqueta está rota o dañada — verás un error de escaneo. Comprueba que escaneaste la etiqueta correcta, límpiala o alísala e inténtalo de nuevo. Si aún no se lee, recurre a la entrada manual.

If the trigger does nothing and the camera won't open, the scanner may have lost connection. The app tells you the scanner is unavailable — use manual entry, or switch to the camera, to keep working while the device sorts itself out.

Si el gatillo no hace nada y la cámara no se abre, puede que el escáner haya perdido la conexión. La app te avisa de que el escáner no está disponible — usa la entrada manual, o cambia a la cámara, para seguir trabajando mientras el dispositivo se reestablece.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

I pull the trigger and nothing happens: The scanner may be asleep or another field has focus. Tap the screen once to wake it, make sure the scan field is active, then try again — or tap the yellow button to use the camera.
It beeps but fills the wrong field: You probably scanned the wrong type of code (a bin where a SKU was expected, or vice-versa). Check the on-screen field, clear it and scan the right label.
The label is damaged or won't read: Clean or flatten it and try again; if it still won't read, use manual entry to type the code — it's flagged for audit. A torn label can be reprinted from Printing labels.
I scanned the same item twice: The app de-dupes rapid duplicate scans, but check the count on screen to be sure the quantity is right before you confirm.

Pulso el gatillo y no pasa nada: El escáner puede estar en reposo o el foco está en otro campo. Toca la pantalla una vez para activarlo, asegúrate de que el campo de escaneo esté activo e inténtalo de nuevo — o toca el botón amarillo para usar la cámara.
Pita pero rellena el campo equivocado: Seguramente escaneaste un tipo de código equivocado (una ubicación donde se esperaba un SKU, o al revés). Comprueba el campo en pantalla, bórralo y escanea la etiqueta correcta.

Escaneé el mismo artículo dos veces: La app descarta los escaneos duplicados rápidos, pero comprueba el conteo en pantalla para asegurarte de que la cantidad es correcta antes de confirmar.
