Fiscal years and periods

Ejercicios y períodos

Every journal entry falls in a fiscal period, and the period decides whether the entry can be posted. Before booking anything you need a fiscal year with its monthly periods.

Todo asiento cae en un período fiscal, y el período decide si el asiento se puede registrar. Antes de registrar cualquier cosa necesitás un ejercicio con sus períodos mensuales.

Create a fiscal year

Crear un ejercicio

Press New Fiscal Year. The Create Fiscal Year window opens.
Type a Name, for example the year.
Choose the Start Date and the End Date. The dates must not overlap another fiscal year.
Press Create. The system creates the year and one period for each calendar month between the two dates, all of them open. A year that starts or ends in the middle of a month gets a shorter first or last period.

Tocá Nuevo Año Fiscal. Se abre la ventana Crear Año Fiscal.
Escribí un Nombre, por ejemplo el año.
Elegí Inicio Fecha y Fin Fecha. Las fechas no pueden superponerse con otro ejercicio.
Tocá Crear. El sistema crea el ejercicio y un período por cada mes calendario entre las dos fechas, todos abiertos. Un ejercicio que empieza o termina a mitad de mes tiene un primer o un último período más corto.

The periods are named after the month in English (for example January followed by the year) and cannot be renamed from this screen. The dates of a year cannot be changed after it is created.Los períodos llevan el nombre del mes en inglés (por ejemplo January seguido del año) y no se pueden renombrar desde esta pantalla. Las fechas de un ejercicio no se pueden cambiar una vez creado.

The current year

El ejercicio actual

One open year can carry the Current label. To move the label, press Set as Current on another open year. A new year is not marked as current by itself, and closing a year removes its label: after a year-end close, mark the new year yourself.

Un ejercicio abierto puede llevar la etiqueta Actual. Para moverla, tocá Set as Actual en otro ejercicio abierto. Un ejercicio nuevo no queda marcado como actual por sí solo, y cerrar un ejercicio le quita la etiqueta: después de un cierre de ejercicio, marcá vos el nuevo.

What each period status means

Qué significa cada estado de un período

Status	What it means	What you can do
Open	Entries dated in the period can be posted.	Close Period, from the menu at the end of the row.
Closed	No entry can be posted into the period, whether typed by hand or generated by another module.	Reopen Period to accept entries again, or Lock Period to make the close final.
Locked	Closed for good. The row menu shows Locked (no actions).	Nothing. A locked period cannot be reopened from the system.

Estado	Qué significa	Qué podés hacer
Abierto	Se pueden registrar asientos con fecha dentro del período.	Cerrar Periodo, desde el menú al final de la fila.
Cerrado	No se puede registrar ningún asiento en el período, ni cargado a mano ni generado por otro módulo.	Reopen Periodo para volver a aceptar asientos, o Lock Periodo para dejar el cierre definitivo.
Bloqueado	Cerrado definitivamente. El menú de la fila muestra Bloqueado (sin acciones).	Nada. Un período bloqueado no se reabre desde el sistema.

The chips above the list (All, Open, Closed, Locked, Adjusting) filter the periods by status. Export downloads every year and period as a spreadsheet file.

Las etiquetas de arriba de la lista (Todos, Abierto, Cerrado, Bloqueado, De ajuste) filtran los períodos por estado. Exportar descarga todos los ejercicios y períodos como archivo de planilla.

Locking cannot be undone. Lock a period only when its figures have been reported and must never change. While it is only closed you can still reopen it to book a late item.El bloqueo no se puede deshacer. Bloqueá un período solo cuando sus cifras ya se informaron y no deben cambiar nunca. Mientras esté solo cerrado, todavía podés reabrirlo para registrar algo que llegó tarde.

Cerrar Periodo abre el cierre guiado con su lista de control: mirá Cerrar un período. Cerrar Year abre el cierre de ejercicio: mirá Cerrar el ejercicio.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"Fiscal year dates overlap with an existing fiscal year": Another year already covers part of those dates. Change the start or the end date.
"End date must be after start date": The two dates are the wrong way round.
"No fiscal period found for date … Ensure fiscal year and periods are configured.": You tried to post an entry on a date that no fiscal year covers. Create the fiscal year for that date first.
"Only open fiscal years can be set as current": The year is already closed. Choose an open one.
"Only closed (not locked) periods can be reopened. Current status: LOCKED": The period is locked. It cannot be reopened; book the correction in an open period.

«Fiscal year dates overlap with an existing fiscal year»: Otro ejercicio ya cubre parte de esas fechas. Cambiá la fecha de inicio o la de fin.
«End date must be after start date»: Las dos fechas están al revés.
«No fiscal period found for date … Ensure fiscal year and periods are configured.»: Quisiste registrar un asiento en una fecha que ningún ejercicio cubre. Creá primero el ejercicio para esa fecha.
«Only open fiscal years can be set as current»: El ejercicio ya está cerrado. Elegí uno abierto.
«Only closed (not locked) periods can be reopened. Current status: LOCKED»: El período está bloqueado. No se puede reabrir; registrá la corrección en un período abierto.
