Units of measure

Unidades de medida

Every SKU is counted in a unit: unit, box, kilogram. The system brings a set of standard units and lets your company add its own.

Cada SKU se cuenta en una unidad: unidad, caja, kilogramo. El sistema trae un conjunto de unidades estándar y deja que tu empresa agregue las propias.

The list of units

La lista de unidades

Each row shows the Unit (name and code), its Description, its Type and its Origin. There are two origins:

Cada fila muestra la Unidad (nombre y código), su Descripción, su Tipo y su Origen. Hay dos orígenes:

Origin	Meaning
Platform	A standard unit that comes with the system, such as EA, PCS, BOX, PACK, DOZEN, KG, G, LB, L, ML, M or CM. It carries a padlock: it cannot be edited or deleted.
Tenant	A unit created by your company. It can be edited and deleted.

Origen	Qué significa
Plataforma	Una unidad estándar que viene con el sistema, como EA, PCS, BOX, PACK, DOZEN, KG, G, LB, L, ML, M o CM. Lleva un candado: no se puede editar ni eliminar.
Tenant	Una unidad creada por tu empresa. Se puede editar y eliminar.

The type is Base for units that stand on their own (a unit, a piece) and Derived for units that are a multiple or a fraction of another (a box, a dozen). The search box and the Type filter look only in the rows of the page on screen; if the unit is not there, go to the next page or show more rows per page.

El tipo es Base para las unidades que valen por sí mismas (una unidad, una pieza) y Derived para las que son un múltiplo o una fracción de otra (una caja, una docena). El buscador y el filtro Tipo miran solo las filas de la página que está en pantalla; si la unidad no está, pasá a la página siguiente o mostrá más filas por página.

Create a unit

Crear una unidad

Press New UoM.
Type the Code, short and without spaces (for example BTL or ROLL). It is saved in capital letters, it cannot be the code of a standard unit, and it cannot be changed afterwards. Keep it within 20 characters.
Type the Name and, if you want, the Description.
Turn on Base Unit only if the unit stands on its own.
Press Create.

Tocá Nuevo UoM.
Escribí el Código, corto y sin espacios (por ejemplo BTL o ROLL). Se guarda en mayúsculas, no puede ser el código de una unidad estándar, y no se puede cambiar después. Mantenelo dentro de los 20 caracteres.
Escribí el Nombre y, si querés, la Descripción.
Activá Unidad base solo si la unidad vale por sí misma.
Tocá Crear.

To change a unit of your company, click its row or use ⋮ → Edit: you can change the name, the description and the Base Unit switch. To remove it use ⋮ → Delete and confirm.

Para cambiar una unidad de tu empresa, hacé clic en su fila o usá ⋮ → Editar: podés cambiar el nombre, la descripción y el interruptor Unidad base. Para sacarla usá ⋮ → Eliminar y confirmá.

The system does not check whether a unit is in use before deleting it. Make sure no SKU uses the unit, or those SKUs will keep a code that no longer exists in the list.El sistema no controla si una unidad está en uso antes de eliminarla. Asegurate de que ningún SKU use la unidad, o esos SKUs van a quedar con un código que ya no existe en la lista.

Load many units from a file

Cargar muchas unidades desde un archivo

Press Import CSV.
Prepare the file. The first row is the header. The columns code and name are mandatory; description and isBaseUnit (true or false) are optional. The file can weigh up to 2 MB.
Drag the file onto the box or press Browse CSV, and press Next: Preview.
Check the rows and press the button that starts the import.
Read the results. Each row says whether it was created or why it failed. A row that fails does not stop the others.

Tocá Importar CSV.
Prepará el archivo. La primera fila es el encabezado. Las columnas code y name son obligatorias; description e isBaseUnit (true o false) son opcionales. El archivo puede pesar hasta 2 MB.
Arrastrá el archivo al recuadro o tocá Examinar CSV, y tocá Siguiente: vista previa.
Revisá las filas y tocá el botón que inicia la importación.
Leé los resultados. Cada fila dice si se creó o por qué falló. Una fila que falla no frena a las demás.

Rows without a code or without a name are skipped without notice: compare the number of rows detected with the number in your file.Las filas sin código o sin nombre se saltean sin avisar: compará la cantidad de filas detectadas con la de tu archivo.

Which units a SKU can use

Qué unidades puede usar un SKU

The Unit of Measure field of the SKU form offers the units enabled for your company. If your company never chose a set, all of them are offered. An administrator chooses the set in the company settings. A SKU keeps the unit it already has even if that unit is later taken out of the set.

El campo Unidades de Medida del formulario de SKU ofrece las unidades habilitadas para tu empresa. Si tu empresa nunca eligió un conjunto, se ofrecen todas. Un administrador elige el conjunto en la configuración de la empresa. Un SKU conserva la unidad que ya tiene aunque después esa unidad se saque del conjunto.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"Code '…' is reserved by a platform default UOM and cannot be redefined per tenant.": That code belongs to a standard unit. Use the standard unit, or choose another code.
"A custom UOM with code '…' already exists for this tenant.": Your company already has a unit with that code.
"Failed to create unit of measure" / "Failed to update unit of measure": The unit was not saved. Check that the code has no more than 20 characters and the name no more than 100, and that your role can manage inventory.
"Failed to delete. Please try again.": The unit was not deleted. Standard units cannot be deleted; for your own, check your permission.
I cannot edit a unit: Units with the padlock are standard ones. Create your own unit with another code.
"No valid rows found. Make sure the CSV has at least code and name columns.": The header of the file does not have the columns code and name, or no row has both.
"File too large (… MB). Maximum is 2 MB.": Split the file in two.
The Total Units card shows fewer units than there are: The cards count the rows of the page on screen. The real total is the one at the foot of the list.

«Code '…' is reserved by a platform default UOM and cannot be redefined per tenant.»: Ese código es de una unidad estándar. Usá la unidad estándar, o elegí otro código.
«A custom UOM with code '…' already exists for this tenant.»: Tu empresa ya tiene una unidad con ese código.
«No se pudo crear la unidad de medida» / «No se pudo actualizar la unidad de medida»: La unidad no se guardó. Revisá que el código no pase de 20 caracteres ni el nombre de 100, y que tu rol pueda administrar inventario.
«Error al eliminar. Por favor, inténtelo de nuevo.»: La unidad no se eliminó. Las unidades estándar no se pueden eliminar; en las propias, revisá tu permiso.
No puedo editar una unidad: Las unidades con candado son las estándar. Creá tu propia unidad con otro código.
«No valid rows found. Make sure the CSV has at least code and name columns.»: El encabezado del archivo no tiene las columnas code y name, o ninguna fila tiene las dos.
«File too large (… MB). Maximum is 2 MB.»: Partí el archivo en dos.
La tarjeta Unidades totales muestra menos unidades de las que hay: Las tarjetas cuentan las filas de la página que está en pantalla. El total real es el que figura al pie de la lista.
