Create a SKU

Crear un SKU

The quickest way is from the product: open it and press Add SKU, so the SKU is already tied to that product family. You can also press New SKU in Products → Catalog → SKUs; in that case the form starts with a Product family search box where you choose the product it belongs to.

  1. Type the SKU Code, or press the wand (Auto-generate code). When the SKU belongs to a family the proposed code follows the rule your company configured for that family; if you pick the family in the form, the code is proposed by itself unless you already typed one. The code cannot be changed afterwards.
  2. Type the Name and, if you want, the Description.
  3. Choose the Unit of Measure. It is mandatory. Only the units enabled for your company are listed (see Units of measure).
  4. Fill in Weight and its Unit (KG, G, LB, OZ or T) if you use them.
  5. Fill in the identifier codes you have: Barcode (digits only; the scanner icon reads it with the camera), UPC (exactly 12 digits) and EAN (exactly 13 digits).
  6. Review Availability. The three boxes come ticked: Orderable (Can appear on purchase and transfer documents), Sellable (Can be sold to customers) and Purchasable (Can be bought from suppliers).
  7. Choose the return policy in Retail POS · Return policy: Returnable (default), No return (custom-cut, perishable, regulated) or No return if opened (paint, adhesive, blades). It decides what the point of sale does when a customer brings the item back.
  8. Press Create. The SKU is born in Draft status.
  8. Tocá Crear. El SKU nace en estado Borrador.
ℹ️
A barcode, a UPC or an EAN can identify one SKU only. The system rejects a value that another SKU already uses in any of those three fields. The same SKU may repeat a value across its own fields, for example the EAN also as barcode.

Until it is, create the SKUs one by one.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"This code is already in use." when creating

Both are mandatory.
