How Kubrik decides a price
Cómo decide Kubrik un precio
A product can have a different price in every list. When a sale needs a price, Kubrik goes through the lists in a fixed order, from the most specific to the most general, and takes the first valid price it finds. It does not look for the cheapest.
The order of the search
El orden de la búsqueda
Kubrik asks six questions, always in this order. As soon as one of them gives a valid price, the search stops.
| Order | Which list is looked at | When it takes part |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The list assigned to the customer (Account). | The sale has a customer. |
| 2 | The list assigned to the customer group the customer has as its main group (Customer group). | The sale has a customer. |
| 3 | The list assigned to one of the customer segments (Segment). | The sale has a customer. |
| 4 | The default list of the branch (Branch). | The sale is made in a branch. |
| 5 | The list assigned to the sales channel (Sales channel). | The sale names a sales channel. |
| 6 | The lists with visibility BASE. | Always. It is the last resort. |
| Orden | Qué lista se mira | Cuándo participa |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | La lista asignada al cliente (Cuenta). | La venta tiene cliente. |
| 6 | Las listas con visibilidad BASE. | Siempre. Es el último recurso. |
When a price counts as valid
Cuándo un precio cuenta como válido
- The list is active, not archived.
- Today falls inside the Effective window of the list, and inside the dates of that price.
- The quantity sold reaches the Min quantity of the price.
- The list is in the currency of the sale. Kubrik does not convert between currencies here: a list in another currency is skipped.
- The list has not been disabled for that product on the product page.
If a step has a list but that list has no valid price for the product, the search simply continues with the next step.
When two lists compete in the same step
- The assignment with the higher Priority wins. It is the number you set when you assign the list.
- If they tie, the list with the higher Priority wins. It is the number on the list itself.
- Inside the winning list, the largest quantity tier that the sale reaches is used. A price for ten units or more beats the price for one unit when the customer buys twelve.
An example in words
Un ejemplo en palabras
The hardware store Ferretería Sur is a customer whose main group is Wholesalers. There are four lists: one assigned to Ferretería Sur, which only has hammers; one assigned to the Wholesalers group, which has the drill only from ten units up; the default list of the Centre branch, which has the drill; and the general list, with visibility BASE, which also has the drill at a lower price.
- Ferretería Sur buys five drills at the Centre branch. Its own list has no drill. The group list has it, but only from ten units. It belongs to no segment. The branch list has the drill: that price is used, even though the general list is cheaper.
- It buys twelve drills. Its own list still has no drill. The group list now applies, because twelve reaches the tier of ten: the wholesale price is used and the search stops there.
- A customer without lists buys one drill in a branch that has no default list. Nothing answers until the last step: the price of the general list is used.
No pertenece a ningún segmento.
Where promotions fit
Dónde entran las promociones
The price list gives the unit price of each product. Promotions are a separate, later calculation: they take a cart that already has its prices and work out a discount on it. See How promotions combine.
Common issues
Problemas habituales
- A product has no price in a sale
- No step gave a valid price. Check that a list with visibility BASE has the product, that the list is active and inside its dates, and that it is in the currency of the sale.
- The customer is charged more than the general price
- A more specific list answered first. Look for the product in the list of the customer, of its main group, of its segments and of the branch.
- I assigned a list to a customer group and it is not used
- Only the main group of each customer counts. Check which group is the main one on the customer record, and that no list assigned directly to the customer has the product.
- A branch list is not used
- Only the assignment marked as the default list of the branch prices sales of that branch. See Assigning a list.
