Jurisdicciones fiscales

A jurisdiction is a tax authority and the territory it covers: the country, a province, a city. Rules, withholdings and exemption certificates all point to one, so they are the first thing to set up.

Una jurisdicción es un organismo fiscal y el territorio que cubre: el país, una provincia, una ciudad. Las reglas, las retenciones y los certificados de exención apuntan a una, así que son lo primero que hay que configurar.

Create a jurisdiction

Crear una jurisdicción

Press New Jurisdiction. The Create Jurisdiction form opens.
Type the Code and the Name. The code identifies the jurisdiction and cannot be repeated or changed later.
Choose the Jurisdiction Type: FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY or SPECIAL.
Choose the Parent Jurisdiction if this one sits inside another, for example a province inside the country. Leave None for the top level.
Type the Country Code, two letters. It cannot be changed later.
Fill in the rest if you use it: State/Province Code, Tax Authority Name, Tax Authority ID Number, Filing Frequency (MONTHLY, QUARTERLY, SEMI_ANNUAL or ANNUAL), Postal Code Pattern and Notes. They are reference data: the system does not calculate with them.
Press Create. The jurisdiction is saved as Active.

Tocá Nuevo Jurisdicción. Se abre el formulario Crear jurisdicción.
Escribí el Código y el Nombre. El código identifica a la jurisdicción y no se puede repetir ni cambiar después.
Elegí el Jurisdicción Tipo: FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY o SPECIAL.
Elegí la Matriz Jurisdicción si esta queda dentro de otra, por ejemplo una provincia dentro del país. Dejá Ninguno para el primer nivel.
Escribí el Country Código, de dos letras. No se puede cambiar después.
Completá el resto si lo usás: State/Province Código, Nombre de la autoridad fiscal, Número de identificación de la autoridad fiscal, Frecuencia de presentación (MONTHLY, QUARTERLY, SEMI_ANNUAL o ANNUAL), Postal Código Pattern y Notas. Son datos de referencia: el sistema no calcula con ellos.
Tocá Crear. La jurisdicción se guarda como Activo.

One top-level jurisdiction, no more. The jurisdiction without a parent is the one the system uses as the place of every sale. Create one for your country and hang the others from it. If you leave two active jurisdictions without a parent, the tax rules tied to a jurisdiction stop applying.Una sola jurisdicción de primer nivel. La jurisdicción sin matriz es la que el sistema usa como lugar de toda venta. Creá una para tu país y colgá las demás de ella. Si dejás dos jurisdicciones activas sin matriz, las reglas fiscales atadas a una jurisdicción dejan de aplicarse.

Find and review jurisdictions

Buscar y revisar jurisdicciones

The list shows Code, Name, Type, Country, Parent and Status. Use Search jurisdictions and the status chips to narrow it, and Export to download the rows on screen. The eye icon opens the jurisdiction: its data, the Tax Authority card and the Child Jurisdictions that hang from it.

La lista muestra Código, Nombre, Tipo, País, Matriz y Estado. Usá Buscar jurisdictions y las etiquetas de estado para acotarla, y Exportar para bajar las filas en pantalla. El ícono del ojo abre la jurisdicción: sus datos, la tarjeta Autoridad fiscal y las Jurisdicciones subordinadas que cuelgan de ella.

Edit, deactivate and activate

Editar, desactivar y activar

Inside a jurisdiction, Edit changes its name, type, parent and reference data. Deactivate asks for confirmation and leaves it Inactive; Activate turns it back on. A jurisdiction cannot be deleted. Once a parent is set you can change it for another, but you cannot leave it empty again.

Dentro de una jurisdicción, Editar cambia su nombre, tipo, matriz y datos de referencia. Desactivar pide confirmación y la deja Inactivo; Activar la vuelve a encender. Una jurisdicción no se puede eliminar. Una vez que tiene matriz podés cambiarla por otra, pero no volver a dejarla vacía.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"Failed to create jurisdiction": The usual cause is a code that already exists. Use another code. It also appears if your role is Accounting Viewer.
"Failed to update jurisdiction status": The change could not be saved. Reload the page and try again; if you only have read access, ask an Accounting Manager.
I changed the code or the country and it did not change: Code and country are fixed when the jurisdiction is created. Create a new jurisdiction and deactivate the old one.

«Error al crear jurisdicción»: La causa habitual es un código que ya existe. Usá otro código. También aparece si tu rol es Accounting Viewer.
«Error al actualizar jurisdicción estado»: El cambio no se pudo guardar. Recargá la página y probá de nuevo; si solo tenés acceso de lectura, pedíselo a un Accounting Manager.
Cambié el código o el país y no cambió: El código y el país quedan fijos cuando se crea la jurisdicción. Creá una jurisdicción nueva y desactivá la anterior.
