Eliminar y restaurar

Deleting has two steps. First the file goes to the trash, where it can be restored. Deleting it from the trash is final.

Eliminar tiene dos pasos. Primero el archivo va a la papelera, de donde se puede restaurar. Eliminarlo de la papelera es definitivo.

Send to the trash

Mandar a la papelera

  1. Open the three dots of the file or folder and choose Move to trash. In the details panel the same action is the Delete button.
  2. Confirm in the Move to Trash window. It reminds you that the item can be restored later.
  3. Check the message that says the item was moved to trash. It disappears from the folder.
  1. Abrí los tres puntos del archivo o de la carpeta y elegí Mover a la papelera. En el panel de detalle la misma acción es el botón Eliminar.
  2. Confirmá en la ventana Mover a la papelera. Te recuerda que el elemento se puede restaurar después.
  3. Fijate en el mensaje que dice que el elemento se movió a la papelera. Desaparece de la carpeta.

You can send to the trash what you uploaded or created yourself, and what you received with the Deleter level or a higher one. A folder goes to the trash with everything it has inside.

Podés mandar a la papelera lo que subiste o creaste vos, y lo que recibiste con el nivel Eliminador o uno más alto. Una carpeta va a la papelera con todo lo que tiene adentro.

What you see in the trash

Qué ves en la papelera

Trash lists the deleted items that belong to you, the most recently deleted first. If someone else deleted a file that you uploaded, you will find it in your trash, not in theirs.

Papelera lista los elementos eliminados que son tuyos, primero los eliminados más recientemente. Si otra persona eliminó un archivo que subiste vos, lo vas a encontrar en tu papelera y no en la de ella.

The trash is not emptied by itself. An item stays there until someone restores it or deletes it forever.La papelera no se vacía sola. Un elemento queda ahí hasta que alguien lo restaura o lo elimina definitivamente.

Restore

Restaurar

  1. Open Trash in the left panel.
  2. Open the three dots of the item and choose Restore.
  3. Go back to the folder where it was. The item returns to its place, and a folder returns with its content.

  2. Abrí los tres puntos del elemento y elegí Restaurar.
  3. Volvé a la carpeta donde estaba. El elemento vuelve a su lugar, y una carpeta vuelve con su contenido.

Delete forever

Eliminar definitivamente

  1. Open Trash and the three dots of the item.
  2. Choose Delete forever.
  3. Confirm in the Delete Forever window.

Delete forever cannot be undone. The file is removed from storage and nobody can bring it back, not even an administrator. Restore the item instead if you have any doubt.Eliminar definitivamente no se puede deshacer. El archivo se borra del almacenamiento y nadie lo puede recuperar, ni siquiera un administrador. Si tenés alguna duda, restaurá el elemento.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"Failed to move to trash"
The item is not yours and you do not have the Deleter level, or it is a file the system manages, which cannot be deleted from Files. Ask the person who uploaded it.
I deleted a file and it is not in my trash
The trash shows the items that belong to you. The file is in the trash of the person who uploaded it: ask that person to restore it.
"Failed to restore item"
You do not have access to change that item. Ask its owner or an administrator.
"Failed to delete item"
The item could not be deleted forever. Check your connection and try again.
"Trash is empty"
You have no deleted items. An item deleted forever does not appear here.
I restored a file and I cannot find it
It went back to the folder where it was when it was deleted. Use the search box with its name.
«Error al mover a la papelera»
El elemento no es tuyo y no tenés el nivel Eliminador, o es un archivo que maneja el sistema, que no se puede eliminar desde Archivos. Pedíselo a quien lo subió.
Eliminé un archivo y no está en mi papelera
La papelera muestra los elementos que son tuyos. El archivo está en la papelera de quien lo subió: pedile a esa persona que lo restaure.
«Error al restaurar el elemento»
No tenés acceso para cambiar ese elemento. Consultá a su dueño o a un administrador.
«Error al eliminar el elemento»
No se pudo eliminar definitivamente. Revisá tu conexión y probá de nuevo.
«La papelera está vacía»
No tenés elementos eliminados. Un elemento eliminado definitivamente no aparece acá.
Restauré un archivo y no lo encuentro
Volvió a la carpeta donde estaba cuando se eliminó. Usá el cuadro de búsqueda con su nombre.
