Churn risk

Riesgo de abandono

The churn score says how overdue a customer is compared with their own buying rhythm. Here you see how it is calculated and the two settings that tune it.

How the score is calculated

Cómo se calcula el score

  1. The system works out the customer's rhythm: the typical number of days between one purchase day and the next in the last 365 days (the median of those gaps), with a ceiling of 365 days.
  2. It multiplies that rhythm by the tolerance factor. The result is the number of days without buying at which the customer is considered gone.
  3. It divides the days since the last purchase by that number. The result, between 0 and 1, is the score. It is shown as a percentage.

Example: a customer who buys every 30 days, with a tolerance factor of 2.5, reaches 100% after 75 days without buying. At 30 days they are at 40%; at 60 days, at 80%. A customer who bought today is at 0%.

A customer needs a minimum number of purchase days for the system to trust their own rhythm. Below that minimum, the system uses the typical rhythm of all your customers instead. If neither exists, the customer has no score.

Change the two settings

Cambiar los dos ajustes

  1. Open CRM Analytics → Segmentation → Churn Configuration, or press Churn configuration on the RFM Distribution screen.
  2. Set the Tolerance factor. A higher factor is more patient: customers take longer to be considered at risk. A lower one raises the alarm sooner. The default is 2.5.
  3. Set Min purchases for cadence: on how many different days a customer must have bought for their own rhythm to be used. It has to be two or more. The default is 3.
  4. Press Save. The message "Churn configuration saved" appears.
  4. Tocá Guardar. Aparece el mensaje «Configuración de abandono guardada».

The new values are used from the next nightly calculation on; the scores already on screen do not change until then. Reset to defaults only puts 2.5 and 3 back in the fields: press Save afterwards for it to take effect.

⚠️
The screen always opens showing 2.5 and 3, even when you saved other values. The values you saved are the ones in use. Keep a note of them, and type them again before pressing Save if you only want to change one of the two.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

"Failed to save churn configuration"
The tolerance factor is zero or negative, or the minimum of purchases is less than two. Correct the value and save again.
I saved, came back and my values are gone
They are saved; the screen shows the defaults every time it opens. See the warning above.
A customer has no churn score
They have no purchase in the last 365 days, or they bought on too few days and there is no typical rhythm for the company yet.
A good customer shows 100%
They went longer without buying than their rhythm multiplied by the tolerance factor. If that happens to many customers who are not really lost, raise the tolerance factor.
