Preparar el archivo

The Import Studio accepts the file almost as it comes, but ten minutes of preparation avoid most of the surprises. This is what it looks at and how it reads it.

El Estudio de importación acepta el archivo casi como viene, pero diez minutos de preparación evitan la mayoría de las sorpresas. Esto es lo que mira y cómo lo lee.

Format and size

Formato y tamaño

• Excel (.xlsx or .xls) or CSV (.csv). No other type is accepted.
• Up to 25 MB.
• A CSV file has to be saved as UTF-8, or accents and the ñ come out wrong. The columns can be separated by comma, semicolon or tab: the system recognises which one from the first line.

The sheet and the header row

La hoja y la fila de encabezado

• Only one sheet is read: the one with the most columns. If your file has several sheets with data, put each one in its own file.
• The header row is looked for in the first rows of the sheet: it is the row with the most cells of text. A logo, a title or a date above the header are not a problem, but a row of notes longer than the header can be mistaken for it.
• Everything below the header is data. Remove totals, notes and legends at the foot of the list.

• Se lee una sola hoja: la que tiene más columnas. Si tu archivo tiene varias hojas con datos, poné cada una en su propio archivo.
• La fila de encabezado se busca en las primeras filas de la hoja: es la fila con más celdas de texto. Un logo, un título o una fecha arriba del encabezado no molestan, pero una fila de notas más larga que el encabezado se puede confundir con él.
• Todo lo que está debajo del encabezado son datos. Sacá los totales, las notas y las leyendas del pie de la lista.

The proposal is made from the title of each column. These are the words it recognises, with or without accents and in upper or lower case. You can always correct the proposal on screen.

La propuesta se arma a partir del título de cada columna. Estas son las palabras que reconoce, con o sin tildes y en mayúsculas o minúsculas. Siempre podés corregir la propuesta en pantalla.

Sections become categories

Las secciones pasan a ser categorías

A row that has only the name filled in, with no code, no price and nothing in any other column, is read as a section title. It becomes a category, and all the products below it, up to the next title, go into that category. Products above the first title are left without category.

Una fila que tiene solo el nombre cargado, sin código, sin precio y sin nada en ninguna otra columna, se lee como título de sección. Pasa a ser una categoría, y todos los productos que están debajo, hasta el título siguiente, van a esa categoría. Los productos que están arriba del primer título quedan sin categoría.

Sizes become variants of one product

Las medidas pasan a ser variantes de un producto

Inside a section, when three or more rows start with the same words and differ in a size at the end, they are loaded as a single product with one SKU for each size. The common words are the name of the product and the size is saved in the Variante attribute of each SKU. In any other case, each row is a product with a single SKU.

Dentro de una sección, cuando tres o más filas empiezan con las mismas palabras y se diferencian por una medida al final, se cargan como un solo producto con un SKU por cada medida. Las palabras en común son el nombre del producto y la medida se guarda en el atributo Variante de cada SKU. En cualquier otro caso, cada fila es un producto con un solo SKU.

The grouping looks at the whole section at once: it applies only when all the rows of the section share the same first words. You will see the result in the preview before anything is written.

El agrupamiento mira la sección entera de una vez: se aplica solo cuando todas las filas de la sección comparten las mismas primeras palabras. Vas a ver el resultado en la vista previa antes de que se escriba nada.

Codes and numbers

Códigos y números

• Rows without a code get one. The system builds it with the prefix you choose on screen plus letters and numbers taken from the product. The same row always gives the same code.
• A code cannot be repeated in the file. The second row with the same code fails.
• Rows without a name are skipped, even if they have a code.
• Currency symbols and spaces in a price are ignored. Write the amounts as plain numbers when you can.
• A separator followed by exactly three digits is read as thousands: 1.234 and 1,234 are both read as one thousand two hundred and thirty-four. With any other number of digits after it, it is read as the decimal separator. Avoid prices with three decimals.
• An empty price or cost, or one equal to zero, is not loaded. The SKU is created without that price.

• Las filas sin código reciben uno. El sistema lo arma con el prefijo que elegís en pantalla más letras y números tomados del producto. La misma fila da siempre el mismo código.
• Un código no se puede repetir en el archivo. La segunda fila con el mismo código falla.
• Las filas sin nombre se saltean, aunque tengan código.
• Los símbolos de moneda y los espacios de un precio se ignoran. Cuando puedas, escribí los importes como números simples.
• Un separador seguido de exactamente tres dígitos se lee como miles: 1.234 y 1,234 se leen los dos como mil doscientos treinta y cuatro. Con cualquier otra cantidad de dígitos detrás, se lee como separador decimal. Evitá los precios con tres decimales.
• Un precio o un costo vacío, o igual a cero, no se carga. El SKU se crea sin ese precio.

Common issues

Problemas habituales

The analysis took the wrong row as header

There is a row above or below the header with more text cells than it. Delete the notes around the header, or leave the header as the first row, and upload again.

The analysis took the wrong sheet

Another sheet has more columns. Leave only the sheet with the list in the file.

No column was recognised

The titles do not contain any of the words of the table. It does not matter: choose by hand what each column is in the mapping step.

Accents come out as strange symbols

The CSV file is not saved as UTF-8. Save it again choosing CSV UTF-8, or upload the Excel file instead.

A product became a category

Its row has only the name. Add its code or its price and upload again.

El análisis tomó como encabezado una fila equivocada

Hay una fila arriba o abajo del encabezado con más celdas de texto que él. Borrá las notas que rodean al encabezado, o dejá el encabezado como primera fila, y subí de nuevo.

El análisis tomó la hoja equivocada

Otra hoja tiene más columnas. Dejá en el archivo solo la hoja con la lista.

No se reconoció ninguna columna

Los títulos no contienen ninguna de las palabras de la tabla. No importa: elegí a mano qué es cada columna en el paso de mapeo.

Las tildes salen como símbolos raros

El archivo CSV no está guardado como UTF-8. Guardalo de nuevo eligiendo CSV UTF-8, o subí el archivo de Excel.

Un producto quedó como categoría

Su fila tiene solo el nombre. Agregale el código o el precio y subí de nuevo.
